Joubert Park, the city's oldest park, proclaimed in 1906. Joubert Park was established to provide a green lung and leisure space for the rapidly growing mining town of Johannesburg, reflecting British views on urban open spaces. The bench is designed with a heavy cast iron frame, wooden slat seats and still holds its original bolts. The wood seats need some restoration.
