Framed Kalaga tapestry, a traditional Burmese embroidered applique tapestry. Kalagas are indigenous to Burma, made of materials like silk, flannel, felt, wool and lace against a background of cotton or velvet. Heavily embroidered using a technique called 'shwe gyi' (gold thread embroidery), decorated with sequins, metallic threads and beads.
