Hawkes & Co. was a highly prestigious military and court tailor in London, with roots dating back to 1771. They were known for supplying both the British Army. They often retailed swords made by other top British makers but also produced their own. Their mark "Manufacturers to the Queen" signifies they held a Royal Warrant. Holding a Royal Warrant was a mark of supreme quality and prestige. Hawkes & Co. received their first Royal Warrant in 1809 from King George III and continuously held them from various monarchs, including Queen Victoria. The blade is decoratively etched on both sides with intricate patterns, with scrolling foliage, the crowned Royal arms, and the royal cypher of the monarch. On the edge of the blade is engraved "London made" with a number. The scabbard is genuine leather and brass. The brass is engraved "Watts with a patent number". Dimensions: Total length: 101cm
