It's a hybrid piece, merging the lower section of a "Canterbury" with the multi-tiered display shelves of a "whatnot." The tiers are supported by elegant turned upright support columns. The "Canterbury" base consists of divided compartments, originally designed for storing sheet music, magazines, or records. Raised on turned legs with small brass castors. Circa late mid-Victorian era. Please note, this item had the back left leg replaced with an aftermarket turned leg, and it appears some of the decoratibe turned struts were removed and surface refurbished. Second shelf has wood split. Item fully functional, with age related wear and tear, but most certianly is an eye catcher!
