The pineapple motif was particularly popular in the mid-20th century (1950s–1970s) as a symbol of hospitality and luxury. The pineapple has been a decorative staple since the 18th century, but the stylized "leaves" and the sleek urn body suggest a more modern, mid-century interpretation of the "Empire" style. They feature cloven hoof feet (or "pied-de-biche"), which is a high-quality decorative detail often found in French-influenced neoclassical designs. Bronze-patinated finish, but possibly spelter or cast brass composition. Dimensions: 30.5cm (h)
