19th century Chinese wooden lacquered box which features a chinoiserie design with hand-painted gold artwork. Includes brass mounts with patterned details and a small lock mechanism. Black lacquered finish. The interior contains illustrations and text - classic text of Confucian ethics. Some minor crackling to the lacquered base but otherwise in good condition for its age.
