Charles van der Merwe (1938–1996) was a prominent South African painter best known for his atmospheric, impressionistic depictions of South African urban and rural landscapes. His work is highly regarded for its ability to capture the specific light and mood of the Cape, often focusing on historical architecture and "lived-in" street scenes. This is a large original oil painting dated 1994, two years before his passing. Presented in a decorative gilded wooden frame with an inner white slip. Dimensions: 94cm x 70cm
