A rare find! Joseph Lucas "Silver King" petroleum bicycle lamp, a kerosene lamp made in Birmingham, England around the early 1900s. It features side "jewels" or reflectors with a green glass on the left side and a red one on the other side. It burns petroleum or kerosene oil, which is held is a small fuel tank at the bottom of the lens. The front lens opens to the kerosene burner and internal reflector. The original "King of the Road" oil lamp was designed by Harry Lucas in 1879. This lamp was manufactured by Joseph Lucas Ltd, made of brass with nickel or tin plating. It was considered one of Lucas's most prestigious and high-quality cycle accessories. Dimensions: 14cm x 12.5cm
