Possibly reproductions of the authentic Japanese Taisho period (1912–1926) white metal dragon cup holders, characterized by a fusion of traditional Edo craftsmanship and Western influence. White metal dragon cup holders from this time—often made of silver plate, pewter, or "shibuichi" (a copper-silver alloy)—were frequently produced for the export market as Western-style tea and coffee culture became popular. In the early 20th century, "white metal" was a broad term used for various non-ferrous alloys. The "Nude" Handle: An "unusual" but documented Taisho-period variant features a dragon-wrapped body with a handle shaped like a stylized nude female figure—a clear nod to the Art Nouveau and Art Deco influences reaching Japan at the time. Only the cup sleeve - no glass liners. Dimensions: 12.5cm (h)
