This vintage mechanical brain-teaser, titled "Sneaky Pete," was hand-forged by blacksmith Dennis Sucilsky of Tucker-Jones House, Inc. in Setauket, New York. Modeled after historical tavern puzzles traditionally crafted by blacksmiths for entertainment, the objective of this complex design is to maneuver and free the large steel ring. The lot includes its original stamped "Tavern Puzzle Collection" canvas drawstring bag and the original printed insert leaf. The iron puzzle remains in excellent structural condition with a rich, natural dark patina and light age-appropriate surface oxidation consistent with traditional wrought metalwork. The wooden accent bead is intact and smooth. The original cloth pouch displays light toning and minor staining, and the paper pamphlet exhibits visible creasing, edge wear, and mild discoloration from handling.
