This impressive 53cm tall ceramic amphora vase is a striking example of late 19th-century Neo-Grec or Classical Revival pottery, likely produced by a prominent European workshop such as those in France or Italy. The vessel features stylized animal-head or griffin handles, a fluted neck, and a prominent central relief medallion depicting a classical foliate rosette. It is finished in a warm, mustard-yellow glaze accented with dark antiquing in the recesses to highlight its intricate molded details. In terms of condition, the vase shows honest wear consistent with its age, including typical glaze flaking, minor pitting, surface abrasions, and a notable hairline surface crack the pedestal base, as well as a few small fleabites around the interior rim, all of which lend it an authentic, time-worn patina.
