This charming vintage ceramic piece captures the mid-century trend of whimsical, hand-painted "head vases" and figural planters that were incredibly popular from the 1950s through the 1970s. It features a cheerful clown bust wearing a classic tall top hat, a bright yellow polka-dot bow tie, and a prominent red nose. Designed with an opening at the top of the hat, it is ideal for use as a novelty planter, bud vase or decorative accent piece. The base is stamped with the mold number "1800". Condition-wise, the piece shows noticeable signs of age and wear; there is a small chip on the upper inner rim of the hat, and widespread crazing alongside paint wear and flea bites throughout the glazed finish.
