Crafted by the renowned English silversmiths Viners of Sheffield circa 1930s–1950s, this sophisticated table box was designed as a humidor for storing cigarettes or cigarillos. It features an ornate, hand-chased scroll and foliate design across the lid with an unengraved central cartouche, opening to a two-compartment wooden lining meant to regulate moisture and preserve tobacco. The interior lid bears the prestigious "Alpha Plate" corporate mark, a high-grade silver-plating hallmark granted to Viners by the historic Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire (established 1836 mark). The piece is in good vintage condition showing light surface wear, age-appropriate tarnishing across the silver plate, and mild wear to the internal wooden compartment.
