Bentwood dining chair by Mundus featuring a shaped wooden seat and tall backrest with three vertical splats. The frame is formed with curved bentwood elements typical of early café and dining chairs produced by the Mundus company. Mundus was an Austro-Hungarian manufacturer known for producing bentwood furniture in the tradition of classic European café chairs. The chair retains its warm wood tone and displays the characteristic flowing bentwood construction. Chair is trademarked on the bottom - see photos. Mundus was founded in 1907 by Leopold Pilzer in Vienna. It started by merging 16 smaller bentwood manufacturers across the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Dimensions: 91cm (h) x 40cm (w)
