An authentic late 19th-century primitive wooden spice box originating from Indonesia. This hand-hewn piece features five storage compartments once used to hold ingredients for betel nut preparation. The exterior is beautifully decorated with traditional geometric chip-carvings and rope-twist borders, all resting on an arched pedestal base. It has a rich, aged patina that highlights its history as a functional village artifact.
Condition: Good antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. The wood shows natural scuffs, surface abrasions, and a heavy honest patina; there is old residue inside the wells, adding to its rustic character.
Dimensions: 24.5cm (l) x 14.5cm (w) x 12cm (h)
