Dating to mid-20th century Great Britain, this portable tea set by renowned Birmingham luggage and picnic ware manufacturer Brexton embodies the golden era of British automobiling and countryside touring. During the 1930s to 1950s, the burgeoning leisure culture of car travel made self-contained "tea baskets" essential for motorists to brew fresh tea roadside using a dedicated methylated-spirit burner.
Housed in its original fitted hard-sided case, the ensemble includes an aluminum kettle with a nesting windscreen stand, a registered Brexton brass spirit burner, a cylindrical fuel flask, an embossed glass storage jar, two enameled metal food tins, and vintage cutlery secured in the lid.
Condition: Shows authentic, age-appropriate patina and wear consistent with historic travel, including surface oxidation on the metal components, light chipping on the enameled tins, and staining to the interior lining.
