This unique antique campaign chest, measuring 117.5cm (l) x 50cm (w) x 109cm (h), is a striking piece of British colonial furniture crafted from mahogany with a deep, aged patina. Designed for portability, the chest features traditional two-part "military" construction, recessed brass bail handles, and protective brass corner strapping. A distinctive and rare feature is the original brass coin slot integrated into the top surface, suggesting it may have served a specialized functional purpose beyond standard clothing storage. The overall condition is fairly good; while structurally intact, the piece exhibits character marks from its history, including deep gouges and scarring on the top near the coin slot, visible splintering and a chip on the bottom left plinth, and general surface abrasions consistent with its age and frequent transit.
