This is an authentic vintage South African military M63 "Staaldak" steel helmet, a signature piece of SADF-era equipment. The helmet features its original textured brown hessian (burlap) camouflage cover, designed to reduce glare and break up the silhouette in the field. Internally, it retains the classic adjustable webbing suspension system and a weathered leather chin strap. The item is in fair vintage condition, showing characteristic wear from use including fraying and loosening of the hessian cover edges, some hardening and cracking of the leather components, and expected surface oxidation and scuffing to the steel shell underneath.
