This lot features a unique pairing of vintage items consisting of a single green "Lapilux" man-made marble bookend by Valmore, offered alongside a selection of volumes from the monumental comprehensive dictionary of the Afrikaans language, Die Afrikaanse Woordeboek (also known as the Woordeboek van die Afrikaanse Taal). Published by Die Staatsdrukker in Pretoria, the dictionary volumes span early editions from the 1950s (such as Volume I for A-C published in 1950 and Volume II for D-F published in 1955). The bookend displays a rich, swirled green marble pattern with a stepped, tiered art-deco styling and retains its original manufacturer label on the underside.
Bookend: Good vintage condition overall with minor signs of shelf wear and scuffing consistent with age on the green felt-covered base, but free of major structural chips or cracks.
Books: Fair to good antiquarian condition. The hardcover cloth bindings show expected edge wear, rubbing, and fraying along the spines and corners due to age, but the text blocks remain intact and readable.
