This antique Stanley Bailey No. 5 jack plane features a cast-iron bed, a stained hardwood tote and front knob, and the iconic Stanley-branded lever cap with orange/red recessed lettering. Based on the "BAILEY" casting behind the front knob, the "No 5" casting at the heel, and the "U.S. PAT. APR-19-10" patent date stamped behind the frog, this vintage tool was manufactured by Stanley Tools in the USA. The plane is in authentic, unrestored vintage condition, showing a beautiful natural patina with typical surface rust, dust, minor pitting, and wear to the original black japanning consistent with its age. The wood handle and knob are fully intact with some minor scuffs, and the mechanical parts, including the brass depth adjustment wheel, appear complete.
