Crafted by a Traditional Folk/Agrarian Artisan, this authentic Chinese wooden winnowing machine (feng che or fanning mill) features traditional joinery, a wide top hopper, internal hand-cranked rotary fan blades, and side discharge chutes. Hand-painted black and red Chinese inscriptions adorn the side panels and upper frame, marking historical regional or institutional ownership, including dated inscriptions confirming this machine remained in working operation up until 1989 (一九八九年). Constructed from solid native woods including elm and pine paired with hand-forged iron fixtures, these hand-cranked winnowing machines were historically used to separate chaff from harvested grain. Today, they serve as exceptional rustic interior accents and statement historical artifacts. Good antique condition overall, showing characteristic rustic wear consistent with age and functional use. Natural weathering, minor surface scuffs, shrinkage splits, and small chips across the wooden frame, handles, and chute edges. Internal fan mechanism and crank handle remain intact. Inscriptions show faint fading and authentic patination. Structurally stable. Dimensions: 142cm H x 160.5cm L x 63.5cm W
