This mid-20th-century oriental camphor wood chest features intricate, deep-relief carvings on the lid and all four sides, depicting traditional village scenes, figures, and architectural motifs framed by swirling clouds and dragons. The chest is secured by a distinctive circular brass butterfly latch and sits on four stylized lion-mask bracket feet. Inside, the natural camphor wood remains unfinished, a traditional method used to preserve the wood's aromatic oils which naturally repel moths and insects. Condition: The chest is in good vintage condition with a rich, warm patina; there is minor age-related wear, including some light scuffing on the feet and faint surface scratches consistent with use. Dimensions: 103.5cm x 53cm x 62.5cm (h)
