This vintage solid oak joint stool was manufactured by the prominent South African furniture maker G.H. Starck Ltd. at their Ruvee Works factory in Elsies River, Cape Town, dating between the interwar period and the 1950s. The piece retains its original, authentic brass maker's label underneath. Reflecting classic design elements, the stool features traditional craftsmanship with a beautifully scalloped under-apron, distinctive pierced diamond cut-outs on the tressel legs, and a robust wedged through-tenon stretcher base. It presents in good, sturdy vintage condition with a rich, warm patina, displaying minor surface wear, age-appropriate scuffs, and character marks to the seat top consistent with its history.
