This is a vintage Delft blue and white ceramic transferware plate from the Traditional Dutch Tradesmen series by Oude Molen Fabriek B.V., Holland. The front features a detailed scene titled "De Chirurgijn" (The Surgeon) framed by a traditional floral border, depicting a historical medical treatment scene complete with an apothecary background and a standing skeleton. The back of the plate features the maker's mark, series name, a poetic description of the trade ("With scalpel sharp and delicate touch, he cuts, saws and sews to heal the major ills"), and is noted as Serie No. 1494. Measuring 25cm in diameter, the item is in good overall vintage condition with a vibrant glaze and crisp graphics.
