This heavy, thick-walled lead crystal humidor bowl or tobacco jar was produced by the German glass manufacturer Ernst R. Kristallglasfabrik, complete with its original foil label. Featuring a classic mid-century design with a turned wooden lid fitted with a built-in moisture control capsule holder, it serves as both a functional piece for tobacco storage and a striking decorative desk or lounge accessory. Ernst R. Kristallglasfabrik was a West German glass manufacturer renowned during the mid-to-late 20th century for producing heavy, high-clarity lead crystal tableware, barware, and smoker accessories. Operating during the post-WWII European glassmaking boom—particularly across Bavaria and Thuringia—the manufactory specialized in combining thick-sectioned, optically pure crystal with functional mixed-media components such as turned hardwoods and brass. Humidors of this specific form feature a specialized insert produced in Decatur, Indiana, designed to hold an adjustable moisture tube, illustrating the transatlantic export market and collaboration between West German art-glass makers and mid-century tobacconist suppliers. The heavy crystal body is in overall good vintage condition with clear glass and retains its original manufacturer foil label; minor chip on the interior rim. Natural aging consistent with age are present on the turned wooden lid and a wood chip on the lid, with the interior retaining its original instructional paper insert (althrough paper insert brittle and in pieces from age) and moisture vial. Dimensions: 21.5cm diameter x 9cm height
