A charming pair of vintage English pottery character jugs celebrating classic British literary and folkloric portraiture. The larger jug, hand-painted by Lancaster & Sandland of Staffordshire, depicts the Dickensian character "Tony Weller" from The Pickwick Papers, rendered with rich earth-toned glazes and an integrated brown top-hat rim and handle. Accompanying it is a finely potted miniature Royal Doulton character jug portraying the expressive likeness of "Paddy," both bearing clear maker's marks to their bases.

Condition
Both jugs are in very good vintage condition with vibrant, glossy glazes and no apparent chips, cracks, or restorations, showing only minor age-appropriate wear to the underside foot rims.
