This mid-century earthenware character vessel depicts a distinguished gentleman in sculptural high relief, complete with an elaborate handlebar moustache, arched brows, and a green bow tie under a rich amber majolica-style glaze. Rooted in the Victorian novelty tradition, the cup features a functional interior moustache guard across the rim, designed to keep facial hair dry while sipping. The reverse displays dense, textured hair modelling, and the underside bears an impressed "MADE IN JAPAN" mark.
