This pair of traditional antique bed warming pans features domed, perforated brass lids and long turned wooden handles fitted with hanging wire loops for display. Historically essential domestic accoutrements prior to modern central heating, bed warmers were filled with hot coals or embers from the hearth and swept between cold bedsheets to warm the bedding before sleep. The pierced lids allowed heat and steam to gently escape while keeping burning embers safely contained.
