This framed metallic-gold and black artwork is a vintage brass rubbing most likely from the 1970's depicting the famous Flemish foundation plaque of Sister Marguerite de Scornay, Abbess of Nivelles, Belgium (c. 1462). The detailed 15th-century scene depicts the kneeling Abbess being presented to the enthroned Virgin Mary and Child Jesus by her patron saint, Saint Margaret—flanked by heraldic shields, intricate foliage, and a dragon symbol. Housed under glass within a gold-toned molded frame, this piece captures a rare surviving fragment of Northern European medieval art.
